The 'Herdade das Palaganas' is located near Beja, Alentejo.
The property is situated within a plot that is slightly undulating and next to a river. In the south, it is more rugged. In the northern part of the property, the soil has better quality for grazing and for the cultivation of cereals and hay for cattle for winter.
There is an area of holly oak, not very dense, which occupies about 56 hectares.
The land is mostly clear, with the equivalent of 222 hectares, without trees.
The property is clearly defined for livestock purposes.
For the time being, it still does not benefit from EDIA's irrigation system.
There is the possibility of installing an irrigation system from the river, with the introduction of plumbing for the permanent livestock meadows, especially dedicated to the breeding of cattle.
The property has 'quotas' for 101 dairy cows, with no animals on the farm. The western boundary and the northern part are closed off from neighbors, although in need of some reinforcement.
Some investments would have to be made including the acquisition of cows and bulls and in the construction and implementation of new fences and a management pen. Plus Investment made in sowing permanent pastures.
We will be able to provide more detailed information on an estimate of expected costs and gains from future exploration.
