Real estate prices are higher than they have been in the last six years. According to statistics office INE, the average price for square meters in Portugal in August was € 1,602. Lisbon is the leader, here a square meter costs on average € 2,231. By comparison: in the Algarve it is € 1,649, in Alentejo € 1,096, in the center € 956, on Madeira € 1,288, in the north € 1,155. In the Algarve, the square meter price in Loulé is highest (€ 2,162), followed by Albufeira (€ 1,819) and Lagos (€ 1,947). Behind them are Castro Marim (€ 1,744), Faro (€ 1,470), Lagoa (€ 1,415), Vila Real de Santo António (€ 1,398), Portimão (€ 1,356), Silves (€ 1,314), Aljezur (€ 1,085), São Brás de Alportel (€ 1,083) and Olhão (€ 1,034). There are no data for Alcoutim, Monchique, Tavira and Vila do Bispo.
