Why is investing in the Alentejo a smart choice for buyers?

Investing in the Alentejo is a wise choice for buyers for numerous reasons, starting with its stunning natural landscape and serene environment. The region combines rural charm with a rich cultural heritage, making it not only an appealing destination but also a solid investment for future growth. With property prices generally lower than those in the Algarve, savvy investors can find great value without sacrificing aesthetics or potential for appreciation. The demand for rural tourism continues to rise, prompting government initiatives to support housing projects and infrastructure improvements. Properties here offer diverse opportunities, including agricultural lands, guesthouses, and potential for eco-tourism ventures. With large plots available near tranquil lakes and rolling hills, buyers can create their own retreats while capitalising on the influx of tourists seeking authentic Portuguese experiences. The local communities are welcoming and rooted in tradition, providing a unique lifestyle that blends leisurely living with cultural activities. Furthermore, close proximity to major towns like Beja is advantageous for accessing markets and services. For anyone considering an investment, the Alentejo’s charm coupled with its potential for profitability cannot be overlooked. Why is investing in the Alentejo a smart choice for buyers?

Due to recent housing proposals and legislation made by the Portuguese government, to solve the housing shortage as well as the drastic rise of property prices in the Algarve, Togofor Homes is exploring the southern part of the Alentejo (Baixo Alentejo) and has recently opened its first office in Ourique, Beja.

The southern Alentejo (Baixo Alentejo) covers Almodôvar towards Ourique, Alvito in the west and Moura, Beja, Serpa and Mértola in the east. Beja is the municipality (council).

Alentejo map

The Alentejo is a region of unexpected and unspoiled nature, where time slows down - especially in the heat of the summer. It offers beautiful and diverse landscapes with wide open views, rolling hills, cattle and of course the well-known black pigs ‘porco preto’ grazing happily in pastures. Reminiscent of Tuscany with panoramic landscapes and never-ending fields, this region is rich in culture and historic treasures which can be seen in several towns and villages. You will find never-ending plots of land – ideal for horses and animals, rural tourism, wineries, orchards, plantations of cork and olive trees - all within natural tranquillity. The small villages and towns are cosy and social with many annual festivals which are very important, not only for the locals to get together.

Starting next to the reservoir at the river MIRA near to Ourique we can present a very interesting guesthouse with its own lake access, located in the natural park.
